I restored my vision

Hi,

I want to share with you my medical history and superb recovery! I had congenital myopia. When I was three years old I already wore my first eyeglasses. Years later, around fourth grade, I was diagnosed with scleroplasty and had progressive myopia. By the time I was 21 years old, I had -16 and -15 sight.

On April 23, 2011 my retina was strengthened with a special laser procedure by Dr. William Boothe. It was not a very pleasing option but it was necessary in order to solve my condition. On May 12 I did my Lasik surgery. Dr. Boothe performed the whole surgery and I advise you all to search for a good ophthalmologist as it makes a big difference. Dr. William Boothe was very calm and professional, I was not scared to go ''under the knife'' with him (especially since he used an all-laser procedure with no blades). According to Dr. Boothe's forecast, the result of my surgery were supposed to be be about -2 -3 diopters. However, on the week after the Lasik treatment, my right eye had -0.25 and the left eye -0.75 vision.

I want to write more about the surgery itself. Before it started the mere thought that something will be touching my eyes troubled me. Throughout the operation the doctor talked to me and it helped to ease my nerves. I laid back comfortably, did not move, and everything was over within a few minutes. One hour later after the surgery I started to feel moderate pain in the eyes and they were watering. In the same evening the pain was gone and I began to experience my improved eyesight. I want to thank Dr. Boothe and his wonderful clinic staff again for what they were able to do for me.

IntraLastik is the procedure for people who value their time.

I was hooked from the first visit at the Boothe Eye Care & Laser Center. The receptionist explained that I will not need to stay at the center for a long time and made sure I will be tested quickly. Dr. William Boothe answered my concerns and asked his assistant to take me to special eye exam rooms. I had tests done on my eyes in three rooms and then came back to Dr. Boothe with my results. Despite the fact that I wore contact lenses for about four years, praised me that I used their very carefully. My retina was in good condition and he said that I could do laser eye surgery whenever it was convenient for me. He offered me two options to restore my vision: Lasik or IntraLasik. The assistant explained that a major difference between these procedures is in the duration of the postoperative period. I wanted a quick solution that is safe and accurate so I chose the IntraLastik option.

On surgery day the nurse took me to check my eyes again. When it was completed Dr. WilliamBoothe said that I am ready for the IntarLasik surgery and before the operation began his assistant went over all the details again. I waited a bit less than 20 minutes when the assistant came over and asked me followed her. She took me their surgical suite and I wore white protective clothes and a ''cool'' cap on my head. Then we came to operating room and the assistant said that I can comfortably lay on the bed. She dripped anesthetic drops in my eyes and for 10 minutes explained the next steps. She calmed me down and when Dr. Boothe arrived I was ready for the surgery.

The doctor opened my eyes with a special tool. I was asked to focus on the green color and try not to move my head. I almost did not feel a thing and then the doctor said that he is done with the left eye. In my opinion within five minutes at most my surgery was completed.

The nurse put protective glasses on my eyes and took me to a post-operative room. She explained how much time I need to wear these lenses and how often I should usethe eyedrops. She gave me handoutswith detailed instructions to help me to recover faster and get the most out of the procedure.

The next day I went to center with my friend. I was waiting for the new test results when the doctor announced that my vision was fully restored. He advised to proceed by using the drops and come to next follow up in one week. I came again and Dr. Boothe asked whether I had any problem with my vision after the surgery. I answered that all was well but sometimes at night my vision is a bit fuzzy. He advised me that this is natural and how to coach my vision to improve and appointed the next visit in two weeks. On the last consultation I did not have any problems with my eyesight, including at night. Dr. Boothe wished me success and was very satisfied with my results.

I wish all doctors were like him

On the first visit to Dr. Boothe eye center, I recognized that he is a professional and respectful doctor. To me, an eye surgery is a very serious procedure and I was glad to see that Dr. Boothe and his assistants were concerned about me and looked into all treatment options before performing any procedure on my eyes. I was satisfied to observe how thoroughly they were with my eye exams and how carefully all members of the staff performed their work.

I don't remember exactly each of the steps made before the actual surgery but I recal that an assistant checked the retina condition and the quality of my vision and that after all the tests Dr. Boothe diagnosed my conidition in simple and understandable words.

His medical diagnosis can be summarized as complex myopic astigmatism and mild myopia. Improving my sight, Dr. Boothe said, can be done by applying Lasik. Before my visit I read information on the internet about different procedures to regain normal vision. Dr. Boothe explained that Lasik is performed in stages: he will use a laser with which the upper layers of the cornea are lifted so that the middle layers are free for laser correction. A second laser is used to reshape this part of the cornea. Dr. Boothe said that IntraLasik offers a quick recovery period, preserving the anatomy of all layers of the cornea , and has painless, stable results. Dr. Boothe assured me that my eye laser surgery will be done by him personally.

On surgery day, the nurse gave me a sedative pill to calm down before surgery. About 10 minutes later I the assistant took me to a room where I dressed in sterile clean clothes and hid my hair in a polyethylene cap . I looked very 'cute… After these preparations the nurse took me to the operating room. When my eyes became numb and heavy from the eye drops Dr. William Boothe began to detail in his calm voice what I will experience next. Two minutes later the right eye was done and after another two minutes the laser eye surgery was completed. I did not feef neither intense pressure nor pain during the surgery or after it.

I got up and was taken to the post-op room. I rested a bit and later The doctor came to check on me. He examine my eyes and I asked that I come back to the center the next morning. At home, I moistened my eyes every couple of hours. The first time it was difficult but then I got better & faster at it.

The next morning I woke up to a phone call. When I held my cell phone I was able to clearly read the name of my friend off the screen. It was so natural to see without contacts lenses.
